The Role of the PCC
The PCC of the Parish of Much Wenlock with Bourton is a corporation with perpetual succession; that is, it has a continuing legal identity independent of changes in its members. It has responsibility for all aspects of the financial management of the Church in the Parish. It is also the duty of the Rector and PCC to consult together on matters of general concern and importance in the Parish, even though the Rector or Bishop may have responsibility for making the final decision in certain matters. It is the duty of the PCC to cooperate with the Rector in promoting in the Parish the whole mission of the Church – pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. It is also responsible for the maintenance of the fabric of Holy Trinity Church, Much Wenlock.
The membership of the Parochial Church Council comprises elected and non-elected members in accordance with the Church Representation Rules. Non-elected members are either co-opted by the PCC or serve ex-officio. All who are called to serve the church in this way give freely of their gifts of time, skills or financial support.
